I.W. Brommer, 84, Dies at Modena

MONDOVI (Special) – Issak W. Brommer, 84, died at his home in Modena Saturday afternoon, Funeral service were held at the Colby Funeral Home at 1 p.m. today and at the Lister Lutheran Church at 2 p.m., the Rev. J.C. Thompson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Brommer was born in Norway and settled near Urne, Wis, at the age of 15. He farmed in that area for 55 years and moved to Modena nine years ago. He was married Feb. 18, 1901.

Surviving are his wife, Mary; six sons, Edwin, Oscar, Elmer, and Walter, of Modena, Carl, Racine, and Orvin, of Chicago; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph Wussow, Kaukauna, Mrs. Alvin Erickson, Modena, Mrs. Leon Erickson, Gilmanton, Mrs. Roy Anderson, Eau Claire; one brother, Adolph of Urne; and 14 grandchildren.

William Brommer passed away at his home in Modena, on Saturday, August 23, after about a week's illness. He attained the age of 84 years, five months and 29 days.
Isaak William Brommer was a son of Isaak William Brommer Sr., and his wife Sigrid
( nee Taastenson), and was born in Finmark Province, Norway, on February 24, 1868. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran State Church of Norway.
In 1883 he came with his parents to the United States, coming directly to Buffalo county, which remained his home for 69 years.
On February 18, 1901, he was united in marriage to Mary Johnson at the brides's home in Lee Valley. After farming in this area for many years, the Brommer's moved to Modena in the spring of 1943.
Mr. Brommer is survived by his wife: and the following ten children: Edwin and Walter, at home; Oscar, Elmer and Helen (Mrs. Elvin Erickson), all of Nelson, Route Two; Mabel ( Mrs. Joseph Wussow) Kaukauna, Wis.; Julia ( Mrs. Leon Erickson), Gilmanton; Ida ( Mrs. Roy Anderson, Eau Claire, Wis.; Carl of Racine, Wis.; and Orvin of Chicago, Ill.
There are fourteen grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Adolph D. Brommer of Urne. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Colby Funeral Home at Mondovi and at Lyster Lutheran church in Church Valley on August 26, Paster J. C. Thompson officiating. Interment was made in the Lyster cemetery.
