Excerpt--Ethel May Shay Trowbridge, 90, of Heartland of Preston Co., died Dec. 31, 1995. She was born Feb. 18, 1905, at Shay's Chapel near Newburg, d/o the late Samuel Nelson Shay and Daisy Myrtle Engle. She was an elementry school teacher. She was raised after the age of nine by Rev. James Wesley Engle of Independence. She is survived by three cousins, James Engle, Sr. of Independence, Thelma Engle Zinn of Fla., and Mable Engle Reel of Lima, Oh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Buck Trowbridge, in 1969; and a son in infancy. Burial was in the Gladesville Cemetery.
