Mr. Privett was born in Muncie, the son of Floyd and Ruth Craig Privett, and attended Central High School. He served in the South Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps.
Most of his working years had been spent in the building trades and in recent years he had devoted his time to the remodeling of homes. He also worked briefly at Warner Gear.
He was a member of Post 651, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are a daughter, Sherry Ochenbine, Garrettsville, Ohio; a son, Gary Privett, Shaker Heights, Ohio; four grandchildren; and two brothers, Fred Privett, Akron, and Charles Privett, Portland.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Meeks Mortuary with the Rev. Sheldon Grame officiating. Burial will be in the American Legion Section at Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and immediately before services Saturday.
