He worked at General Electric Co., retiring in 1980 after 45 years. A 1938 graduate of East High School, he received his accounting degree from Bryant & Stratton Business Institute of Buffalo, N.Y., in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and attained the rank of staff sergeant. Assigned duty with the 367th Harbor Craft Co. throughout the Pacific Theater, he was discharged in 1945 after three years. He was a sports fan and enjoyed small game hunting and fly fishing.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Babcock.
Survivors include his wife, Edna "Eddie" Clark Babcock, whom he married Nov. 24, 1945; three daughters, Marcia B. Spence and her husband, J. Kurt, of Doylestown, Susan B. White and her husband, Robert L., of Chicago and Carolyn B. Skylstad and her husband, Peter L., of McHenry, Md.; a sister, Mary Ellen Wright of Clearwater, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery, Erie.
