She was a daughter of Mrs. Anna Barber and a sister to Mrs. J. A. Anderson of Maryville, Mrs. Halfred Botkin and Mrs. Clint Knepper of Skidmore, and Alonzo Barber of Burlington Junction.

According to Missouri Marriage Records, 1805-2002, Vera R. Barber married Clarence E. Olson in Skidmore on August 2, 1923.

From the Skidmore News, August 9, 1923, page 1:
"A Pretty Home Wedding.
Miss Vera Barber, daughter of Mrs. A. C. Barber, and the Rev. Clarence E. Olson were united in marriage at eight o'clock, Thursday evening, August second, at the home of the bride's mother, by Dr. Burris of St. Joseph, Mo.

The ring ceremony was used. The bride was beautifully gowned in white georgette and carried a bouquet of bride's roses, tied with white tulle. Miss Evelyn Porter was bridesmaid and was attractively gowned in green organdy and carried a bouquet of pink rose buds, tied with pink tulle. The groom was attended by Mr. Harry Wilson Kerr.

Preceding the ceremony a program of music was given. Miss Louise Brehmer sang, "I hear a Lark at Eve," "At Dawning," "Calm as the Night," and "Because." Miss Ulrica Liggett played "Norweigen Bridal Procession," by Grieg, "Romance" by Rubenstein, "Chant D'Amour" Paderewski, for the wedding procession, the Lohengrin wedding music and after the ceremony, the Mendelssohn wedding march.

A buffet luncheon was served. The out of town guests were: Mrs. Wylie Zook and son Beryl of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. James Happ of India, Miss T. Ulrica Liggitt of Pittsburg, Pa., Miss Louise Brehmer of Atlantic, Ia., Miss Ruth Jones of Burlington Junction, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Robert Terhune of Mound City, Mo., Mr. H. W. Kerr of Fredricksburg, Ohio, and Dr. James Anderson of Maryville, Mo.

Mr. and Mrs. Olson left Thursday night for a two weeks trip through Colorado."
