Services for Samuel L. Evans, 79, of Shallowater will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Shallowater First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitch Wilson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

He died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at his residence.

He was born in Webb City, Ark., and lived in Shallowater for most of his life. He married Dorotha Chisum on October 6, 1955, in Portales, N.M. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1279 in Shallowater. He was a charter member of the Shallowater First Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Glenda Haught of St. Louis, Mo., and Judy Wittie of Monahans; a sister, Merle Boozer of Hereford; and five grandchildren.
