Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Mae Spear, 74, of Bastrop and formerly of Caldwell Parish, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Riser & Son Funeral Home here with the Revs. James Simons and W. A. Massey officiating.
Burial was in Lowe Cemetery near Kelly for Mrs. Spear who died Thursday night in Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop after a long illness.
Her late husband, John M. Spear, was a Spanish-American War veteran who died in 1956. They resided on the Columbia-Copenhagen Road and later near Kelly before moving to Bastrop several years ago.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Mae Cherry of Bastrop; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
