William Elmer Byers, age 67, died Friday, Oct 9, at 2 p.m. in his home on Main Street Hillsville. He had been ill since early in September, when he was injured in a fall.
Mr. Byers had been a resident of Hillsville for the past sixteen years, having come there from Venango County. He was married forty two years ago to Zephyra Jabobs, who preceded him in death five years ago.
Mr. Byers was a member of the Hillsville Methodist Church and had been employed as a steam shovel operator by the Lake Erie Limestone Company.
He is survived by three sisters; Mrs, Lula Rose (Walter Mcfetridge- first husband deceased)of Polk, Mrs. Lena Harmon of Prospect and Mrs. Alice Stoner, Hillsville; three sons: B.E. Byers of Cicero, Ind., J.M. of Hillsville ahd S.G. of Enon Valley; seventeen grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Tillie Eakin, Butler, Mrs. Mary Storm, Robinson, Ill, and Mrs. Cassie Campbell Eau Claire.
Funeral services will be held from the family residence Monday at 2 p.m. and internment will be in the Graceland Cemetery. New Castle News, Saturday, October 10, 1931, pg 2
