Doris M. Cheyne, age 83, of Clare passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2005 at the Northwoods Nursing Center in Farwell. Doris was born the daughter of Francis and Evelyn (Robinson) Bechtel on December 25, 1921 in Midland. Doris married Leon Cheyne on February 22, 1941 and together they had lived in Pontiac for 30 years. They had moved to Clare after Leon's retirement to spend time with family.
Doris is survived by her brother Theodore Bechtel of Beaverton; and her special friend Val Knisely. Aunt dodo will be missed by her many nieces, nephews and dear friends whom she dearly loved. She opened her heart and shared her life and made us all realize our many blessings. Aunt dodo had a passion for nature, sewing, painting and poetry, which she shared with all. We will miss sharing a lovely pot of tea, her stories and her wonder of nature. Doris was predeceased by her husband Leon; her parents; her siblings Frank, Darwin, Aaron and Mary; her sister-in-law Glanis Bechtel; and her special friend Pete Knisely.
Services for Doris took place on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Stephenson-Wyman funeral Home in Clare. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. (The Clare County Review, p. 8 – Clare, MI – 16 December 2005)
