Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Helen Gardner Baumgartner passed away December 29, 2011 in Cedar City, Utah. She was born January 23, 1920 in Cedar City to Royal Snow and Catherine Ahlstrom Gardner. She married Ray Baumgartner on September 1, 1945 in the Rock Church. Their marriage was later solemnized May 12, 1948 in the St. George Temple.

Helen was an active member of the community serving as a volunteer with the Utah Shakespearean Festival, a leader with the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and a leader with the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a faithful member of the LDS Church serving a mission with Ray in Spokane, Washington, served in every women's auxiliary, and enjoyed serving as a Bishop's wife for many years.

Helen and Ray loved to travel and visited numerous states and countries throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Karl, Thurman, and Max; her sister Eula and infant son Allen Ray. She is survived by her husband Ray, children Linda (Gary) Lee of Tooele, UT; Sandy (Fernlee) Bryant; and Brent (Lauri) Baumgartner, all of Cedar City. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

There will be a viewing held Monday, January 2 at Southern Utah Mortuary 190 N 300 W, Cedar City, Utah from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. An additional viewing will be held Tuesday, January 3 at the Mortuary from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at the Cedar City Stake Center 155 E 400 S Cedar City, Utah. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.

The family would like to thank all of the healthcare workers who tirelessly took care of Helen in her last days, namely Kolob Regional Care & Rehabilitation of Cedar City, Horizon Home Healthcare, and IHC Hospice. Your kindness and care is greatly appreciated
