Velva Anna Kellams was born 10 of April 1886 in Grandview, Spencer County Indiana to Philow Canada Kellams and Mary Ellen Sanders. Although many records claim she was born on the 11th of April.

Philow is the son of Greenberry Kellems and Sarah Jane Huff. He was known as Can Kellams by those who knew him. Mary Ellen is the daughter of William T. Sanders and Abigail Jane Dunn which joins in to the Lincoln family.

Velva's brothers and sisters include the following:
Oscar who died at age 5: Maude aka Mary; Rosa (died in early childhood); Otto, Doris/dora/dori; Stephen Grover/Grover Stephen; Sally/Sarah, John W. Kellams; Josephine; James Walter and James Willis (MANY OF THESE CHILDREN DIED SHORTLY AFTER BIRTH) and James Earl/Earl James son of Phillow and Bernettie Murphy.

September 9 1909 Velva married Chester Paul Tieman, she is the mother of 6 children, all except one are deceased.

Velva apparently died due to complications of childbirth the 3 of June 1917. She is dearly admired and thought of often and truly missed.
