Married 1/15/1837 in Berks County and removed to Venango (now Clarion) County, PA. Farmer; resided in Beaver Township; Also the father of John (1843-1864, killed at Battle of Fredericksburg)

CLARION DEMOCRAT, 8/11/1887:

Suddenly and alone on the public road on his farm in Beaver township, while on his way home, Aug. 1, 1887, John George Texter, aged 75 years, 1 month and 18 days. The subject of this notice was born in Heidelberg township, Bucks co., Pa., and at the proper age was received into the full communion with the Lutheran church. January 15, 1837 he was united with Rebecca Sherman in holy matrimony. Last January they celebrated their golden wedding. The fruit of this union was ten children, 6 daughters and 4 sons. Three of them preceded him to the eternal world. In 1856 he united with the Reformed church of which he remained a faithful member. In 18-8 he moved to the farm on which he lived since and on which he died. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
