George Wilbur McIver was born in San Francisco, California, October 4, 1874, a son of John McIver and Jane Doel McIver. His family moved to Livermore in 1883. He was for many years a clerk in the store of Anspacher Bros., the pioneer merchants of Livermore. He was Recording Secretary of Las Positas Parlor of Native Sons and was one of the organizers, and a sergeant in old Company I, Fifth Infantry Regiment, National Guard of California.
He moved to Salina, Kansas in 1904 and began work as a traveling salesman for the Lee Hardware Company . He was married to Charolotte Berg on October 27, 1908, at Salina. He died on May 22, 1919, at a hospital in Topeka.
