I have been told a story about the Poor's that they lived on a river boat around St. Louis, IL. Charles was a gambling man and would visit the river boats often. One evening he just never came back. They don't know if he ran into foul play or just abandon the family.
Discovered now that he went to a TB hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He died there and was buried behind the hospital in their cemetery.
Can not find her or Charles in the 1920 Census. In the 1930 census she is living in OK with her half brother Levi Murphy. Henrietta having fallen on hard time moved to Cherokee, Ok. Census has her down as being a widow. However, Charles did not die until 1935.
Of her three children I'm most curious about Perniecie. She is in the census in 1900 at age 7 living with the family of Jessie Ashlock as a ward. I have not found the connection there. Again in the 1910 census she is in Oklahoma with the Sawyer family as a servant age 18. In that house hold is a son Dennis age 32 single. She later married him, by the 1920 census they have several kid.
I was told by aunt Alice Sanborn that Henrietta was a quiet woman and always had a jar of lemon drops for the grandkids.∼Henrietta Murphy, born December 6, 1870 in Greene, Illinois to parents, Levi Murphy Sr. and Mary Ann Hand Murphy. Wife to Charles A. Poor (m.May 13,1888). Mother to Alice L. Poor, Pernice A. Poor, and Herschel Poor. Died in Lambert, Oklahoma on Jan. 14, 1949
