The death of Zachariah T. Reed, aged 73, occurred Saturday in Wyoming Valley Homeopathic Hospital after an illness of complications. Mr. Reed was a local resident for a number of years, having made his home with his brother, John E. Reed, at 11, East Hillside avenue.
Deceased was born in Pottsville, March 15, 1856. At the age of 12 he fell from a coal breaker at Hazleton causing dislocation of his shoulder and hip. Sometime later he suffered a fractured skull and a badly bruised hand that left his fingers crippled. During the World War, Mr. Reed was engaged in the powder works at Perth Amboy, N. J. where he received a medal from the government for faithful and efficient service. Besides one year spent in Butte, Montana. Mr. Reed spent his entire life in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Survivors are the following brothers and sisters: Albert Reed, of Mahanoy City, Edgar Reed, of Slocum; Daniel Reed, of Ashley: Mrs. Lewis Brecktel, of Montana, and John E. Reed, of Plymouth. The funeral will be held from the home of John E. Reed, 11 East Hillside avenue, tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock with services to be conducted by Rev. C. H.
