Biography:

Levi Jones, an old settler of the township, was born in West Virginia(Virginia). He married Jane Snyder in Virginia in 1829. In 1838, in company with his mother's family, he went to Indiana and then engaged in blacksmithing which he followed until he came to Franklin County in 1854, where he engaged in farming and blacksmithing. In politics he was a republican and was a member of the first board of supervisors. He and Jane were members of the Methodist Church at Geneva. His education was received in a log schoolhouse. They had ten children, seven of whom lived.

Born in Evansville, W VA/Virginia which is now in Preston County, just east of Grafton.
