Mabel E. Garman, 89, of Chambersburg, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Menno Haven. Born October 27, 1922 in Mongul, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Purus W. and Sarah E. Burdge Scott. She was a member of the Ridge Church of the Brethren, Shippensburg and many years ago worked at Shirt Craft, L'Aiglon, Monarch and the U-Wanna-Wash Frock Company. Mabel was a former member of the First Court Chapter # 470 Order of the Eastern Star, Shippensburg. She is survived by two sons, Darwin A. Gaston and his wife Patricia of Mechanicsburg, and Marlin E. Garman and his wife Ann of Shippensburg, one daughter, Mona M. Holtry and her husband Jeffrey of Newburg, one sister, Vera C. Rebuck of Shippensburg, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur A. Gaston who died in 1947, her second husband Earl L. Garman who died in 1985 and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 2, 2012 in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home Inc., Shippensburg at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be The Rev. John A. Ile, Jr. Burial will be in Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 3544 N. Progress Ave. Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
