John R. Armstrong, 72, a former resident of Harrisonburg died at 3:30 a.m. Monday at his home on Severn Street in Baltimore.

A son of the late Leroy S. Armstrong and Anna Beach Armstrong, he was born on April 9, 1888.

He came to Harrisonburg as a child and lived here until moving to Baltimore.

On December 25, 1910, he married Miss Carrie Clatterbuck, who survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by eight children,
-John R. Armstrong Jr.,
-George V.,
-James R.,
-Thomas E.,
-Mrs. Mildred Sands,
-Carrie Lee Bonn,
-Mrs. Lucy I. Sturm, and
-Mrs. Rosalie Shifflett,
all of Baltimore,
24 grandchildren,
5 great grandchildren, and
three brothers,
-Leroy S. Armstrong Jr., of Harrisonburg,
-Charles M. Armstrong, of Annapolis, Md., and
-Walter R. Armstrong, four sisters,
-Mrs. Myrtle Pence,
-Mrs. Jessie Carroll,
-Mrs. Ruby Hardy, and
-Mrs. Ruth Swanson, all of Baltimore.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday from the Mabel Memorial Chapel. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles W. Moore, burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery.
