John Foster, 83, of Elkins, died in a local hospital Thursday. He was born Oct. 26, 1883 in Durham, the son of Richard and Alzire Lawson Foster, and was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Alice Foster of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Carl Bell of Elkins; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Homesley of Elkins and Mrs. Cassie Homesley of Durham; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Community Church with burial in Mount Olive Cemetery under direction of Nelson's Funeral Home.
