DEATH COMES TO PIONEER WOMAN
Mrs. Emily Ainsworth, well known pioneer woman of Yavapai county, passed peacefully away in sleep last night about 6:45 at the home of her son, William H. Ainsworth, in Williamson Valley, following a lingering illness due to paralysis. Mrs. Ainsworth was nearly 80 years of age, having been born in Iowa, November 10, 1851.
Mr. Ainsworth, who passed away about six years ago, and his family came to Walnut Grove nearly 50 years ago from Salt Lake City where he and Mrs. Ainsworth were married and several of their children were born. Three children were born at the Walnut Grove ranch home. Five children survive, William H. of Williamson Valley; George and Ben of Walnut Grove; Benjamin who has a ranch on the Santa Maria and one daughter, Mrs. Clara Worthen, proprietor of the Head hotel. There were two other daughters, Mrs. Ruby Marlowe, of Williamson Valley, who died a year ago and Mrs. Frank Denney, of Miller Valley, who passed away two years ago. Eleven grand children also survive.
Mrs. Ainsworth had a sweet and gentle character which endeared her to all who knew her. Though a sufferer for many years, she never lost the sweet patience which sustained her in her illness and even to the very end, her mind retained its full faculties. During her illness she was tenderly cared for by her children. The past fourteen months, Mrs. Ainsworth lived with her son in Williamson Valley, but previous to that time she made her home with Mrs. Worthen for about eleven years.
Funeral services will be held early next week at a date to be announced later.
