In the 1840, White was the mayor of Milledgeville, Georgia. During the Civil War, he was the Surgeon General of the Georgia State Troops.

Dr. Ben.White had 5 sons in the Confederate Army. He also left Money for the Orphans in Georgia, whose fathers had died in the War.
