d/o Louise Nichols and Richard G. Merrill. Gloria graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, Maine. She was employed by the Department of Human Services for many years in Maine until moving to Florida in 1988. She worked for the University of Central Florida in the honors program until she retired in 2007. Gloria had many interests, including events with her Red Hat Society friends, designing and making beautiful jewelry. She was always ready for a good card game, a song or dance and family dinners. She especially enjoyed the Christmas Season. Gloria lost her courageous battle against cancer on Dec. 20, 2011 at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Florida. She was the mother of three boys, grandmother of three granddaughters and one grandson, also a great grandmother of two children, and the oldest of three younger sisters. Gloria will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family and many friends.
