He attended the little stone church that was constructed in 1710 at approximately the same location as where the present day, Trinity Church in New Rochelle, NY now stands. The church was known as the 'Stone Jug' and was very similar in appearance to the reconstructed Huguenot church located in New Paltz, New York.

The Huguenots of New Rochelle settled along the water's edge. They used the water routes into New York City to transport their locally grown produce by sloop. This was no doubt one of the occupations of both Etienne and his father Andre Arnaud as they were part owner in the sloop 'Lyon'.Born in Frenchtown, East Greenwich, Narragansett Bay Area, Rhode Island, (or Boston, MA) died abt 1761, buried either in Old town Cemetery, New Rochelle or on his property. A mariner. Known as "Boatman". Also father of Peter (Mary Landrine & Catherine Margarite)
