Edward C. Bass, 81, 1948 Deckner Ave., died Monday. He was born July 4, 1894 in Montello, Wis. to the late Dr. E. A. and Ada Bass and married Meta Lowert in 1924 in Chicago, Ill. His wife preceded him in death Aug. 5, 1973. Mr. Bass was superintendent for the U.S. Fidelity Guaranty Co. of Chicago. He served in the Marines in World War I and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Survivors include nieces and nephews. Findeisen-Greiser Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Private Bass distinguished himself while serving with the 81st Company, 6th Machine-Gun Battalion, 2d Division, American Expeditionary Forces at Chateau-Thierry, France, 6 June - 10 July 1918.
