Robert Norman "Backwoods Bob" Painter, 85, passed away May 17, 2007. He resided in the High Desert for 18 years. He was born in Freemont Center, N.Y., on Nov. 25, 1922. Robert was a true outdoorsman. He spent many years as a professional trapper, creating and selling unique lures and jewelry. Throughout his lifetime, he also enjoyed gold mining, painting, rock collecting, hunting and fishing Robert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys; a daughter, two sons.; four brothers; two sisters; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
