GROVER C. GEARHART, LEADER OF FOREIGN TRADE CLUB, DIES
Grover C. Gearhart, 53 years of age, of 2000 Country Club Drive, Burbank, three times president of the Foreign Trade Club, died yesterday at the Laurel Sanatorium in Glendale.
For the last five years he maintained a wholesale lumber business in Los Angeles and previously was with the Hammond Lumber Company as manager of the hardwoods department for twenty-five years.
ACTIVE TWENTY YEARS
It was while Mr. Gearhart was importing hardwood that he became interested in foreign trade, which formed the basis for his civic activities in Los Angeles during the last twenty years.
For his work in building interest in all types of foreign trade he received the only gold honorary membership card ever given by the Foreign Trade Association of Southern California.
In 1930 he was general chairman of Foreign Trade Week in Los Angeles. For fifteen years he was a member of the harbor committee and the foreign commerce and shipping committee of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce.
INTERESTED IN SCOUTS
His other activities included an interest of several years in the Boy Scout movement.
Besides his widow he leaves a son, Frank, five daughters, Betty, Marjorie Gean and [...], and Mrs. William F. Lockwood of Fresno and Mrs. Darold Thomas of Los Angeles; his father, Willis Gearhart, Van Nuys; two brothers, Claude, of Artesia, and Cash of Van Nuys.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the First Christian Church, Eleventh and Hope streets. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
