Information is very sketchy so far on Walter Hamilton Witsell. He is married to Mary Ann Burbidge and living in St Bartholomew's Parish at the age of 35 in the 1860 Census. He is last seen with his wife and child, Cornelia, living with his inlaws in the 1870 Census. His wife Mary Ann appears in directories in the 1880's in Charleston as a widow. I finally found a year of death for him in a recounting of a civil war battle. He served from 1862 to 1864 as a private.

I am still researching Walter. Although not confirmed, his birth and death in Colleton County is a safe presumption.

I have not found him listed in any burial listings for Live Oak but his wife and inlaws are there. I will continue to try to find record of him and obtain a picture of his grave. His father in law, John William Burbidge, was the Chairman of the Trustees of the cemetery at the time of his death.
