RICHARD ELIAS GABRIEL Born May 1, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan. Passed away peacefully on December 17, 2011 at Riverside Community Hospital, surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife Diane, and three daughters Beth (Bill) Lovewell, Kris Alzado, and Trisha Stockton. Richard has seven grandchildren: BJ and Jon Lovewell, Nicholas and Cara Tavaglione, Courtney Nejedly, and Sydney and Allie Stockton, as well as 5 1/2 great-grandchildren. Richard was an honorable, loving and compassionate man, husband, father, and grandfather who never knew a stranger. He spent most of his professional life as an educator for Riverside Unified School District in the capacity as principal at the elementary, junior high and high school levels, and assistant-superintendent of personnel, touching the lives of many. Upon retirement, he was a lecturer/advisor at UC Riverside. A longtime resident of Riverside, he and his wife have resided for the past 21 years in Murrieta, and have enjoyed an active life in The Colony retirement community. Richard was a truly extraordinary man, who will never be forgotten. His kind, gentle and caring manner left a lasting impression on all of our lives. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in January. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Canine Companions for Independence of Oceanside, CA.
