Walter W. Stamm Sr., 86, of Alton, died at 1:30 a.m. today, at D'Adrian Convalescent Center.
Born in Redbud, he was a wood box maker for Owens-Illinois Glass Corp. retiring Sept. 1, 1964, following 37 years of service.
He married the former Lucy Haddock on December 31, 1932 in Elsberry, Mo. She preceded him in death August 31, 1974.
Surviving are two daughters, Beulah Ambrose and Bonnie Northway, both of Alton; one son, Walter Stamm Jr. of Elsah; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Fred Stamm of Alton.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Gent Funeral Home where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. George Cope officiating. Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery and the Abundant Life Church has been named as a memorial.
