Mrs. Alice Louise (Painter) Smelser, 82, of Winchester, Va., died Nov. 28, 2005 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester.
Born Sept. 16, 1923, in Luray, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Cave) Painter.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Roosevelt Smelser, Sept. 14, 1999; one daughter, Patricia "Pat" Lee; one brother, Ray Painter; and one sister, Pauline Mauck.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Harsh of Martinsburg, Darlene Jones of Winchester and Phyllis Strawderman of Maysville; one sister, Frances Aleshire of Luray; one brother, Albert Painter of Winchester; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Dec. 2, at Omps Funeral Home chapel, Winchester, with interment in Shenandoah Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W.
