Ollie Etter, only son of W.G. and Sarah Jane Etter, was born December 25, 1871, near Mt. Pleasant and passed away June 8, 1943. The parents and three sisters, Miss Nora Etter, Mrs. J.M. Russell, and Mrs. George Harbison have preceded him in death, leaving only one sister, Miss Irene Etter.

At the age of 23 he was married to Miss Leona Van Hooser. To this union five children were born, all of whom are living and were present when he passed away. They are: Mrs. Lillian Brazier and Mrs. Mildred Miller of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Malcolm Etter of Kansas City; Mrs. Omega Henley of Eugene, and Mrs. Meckie McDonald of Chicago.

Twenty-seven years ago he was married to Miss Dorsie Scott of Olean and since that time they have made their home in Eugene. Early in life Mr. Etter accepted Christ and has been a loyal member of the Christian Church almost half a century. It can truly be said that his life like a snowflake has left a mark but no stains.

A beautiful funeral service was held at the home conducted by Rev. Renshaw. The choir composed of Mr. and Mrs. F.V. Kallenbach, Mrs. C.J. Bell, Mrs. Paul Etter, Mrs. Ford Spalding, Miss Maxine Buster and Pauline Etter, and Rev. Renshaw, sang, "Where We'll Never Grow Old", and "Abide With Me." Rev. Renshaw sang "Beautiful Isle", and in his impressive way paid a beautiful tribute to the noble pure and useful life. His theme wsa the last words of the obituary, "his life like the snowflake has left a mark but no stains." The flowers, lovely lilies and roses, were a silent tribute to a worthwhile life and a token of sympathy and esteem of loved ones and his many friends.

Mr. Etter was laid to rest in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery by the tender care of Phillips Funeral Directors, assisted by pallbearers Paul Etter, V.E. Bealer, R.L. Jordan, F.V. Kallenbach, Clarence Russell, and Dr. Berkstresser. Flower girls were Norma Ruth Henley, Pauline Etter and Maxine Buster.
