Name is also given as Deneys Van Duyn Bice. He was baptized 9 Apr 1745 at the Harlingen Dutch Reformed Church, Somerset Co., NJ. (Obviously some confusion re the birth and baptism dates which might just be an old/new calendar issue. Or it might be a typo somewhere.)

Dennis Buys was commissioned 1st Lieutenant 6 Feb, 1778 in Capt Joseph Corshon's 9th Company in Col. Henry VanDyke's 2nd Battalion on Somerset, N.J. Militia. He served in tours of two to three months each until Nov. 1781 Length of service about two years.

He married Annetje/Annie Sebring (1748-1813) on 26 Nov 1765. She died in Kentucky.
