She was born March, 27, 1961, in Houston, to Ruth Waldrop Stevenson and Robert Stevenson. She is a graduate of New Caney High School, Centenary College of Louisiana, and Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University. As a Children and Youth Pastor since 1982, Pam brought many people to Christ and helped many others to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.
Pam will be remembered as a faithful servant to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ in Methodist churches in Porter, Humble, Mount Pleasant, Pearland, Teague, Kilgore, and finally at Wesley United Methodist Church, Beaumont.
Survivors include her husband of twenty-four years, Reverend Robert Besser of Pinewood; son, Barrett Besser; sister, Donna Powell; brother, Mark Stevenson and sister-in-law, Yuriko of Kingwood; nieces, Jennifer Powell, Kim Sanders, and Megan Stevenson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other family members and loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont with a graveside service at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Texas Methodist Conference Cemetery, Highway 294 outside of Palestine, under the direction of Broussard's.
Ricky Bailey, Randy Crocker, Eddy Franklin, Glenn Jozwiak, Ron Knouse, Mike O'Day, David Ward, and Barrett Besser will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the clergy from the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, and members from the churches she has served.
Memorial contributions are suggested to be made in Pam's memory to Wesley United Methodist Church, Children's Fund, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77713; to any of the congregations she has served, or to a charity of one's choice.
