David Caldwell, 85, 169 S. Third St., died at 9:30 Friday morning in the Leader Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He had been in ill health since January, 1976.
He was born Feb. 5, 1892, in Chambersburg, the son of the late John W. and Ida Flack Caldwell. He was of the protestant faith. For more than 40 years he was a machinist at Frick Company in Waynesboro, and in recent years, he served as a custodian at the Second Lutheran Church in Chambersburg.
Surviving are his widow, Blanche Bolan Caldwell; a daughter, Mrs Leslie R. (Gladys) Hill, R.R. 7; one grandson, two great-grandsons; a brother, Frank Caldwell, 62 Glen St.; a sister, Miss Florence Caldwell, of the Lutheran Home, Gettysburg, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, 297 Philadelphia Ave., with the Rev. Dino Pedrone officiating. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before services on Sunday.
