Joye Marice Tschauner (1936 - 2011)
ODESSA Joye Marice Tschauner, age 75, of Odessa, TX, passed away Wednesday, December 21st, in Odessa at Medical Center Hospital.

She was born in Ranger, TX on November 24th, 1936 to Wylie Wilburn Hill and Annie Mae Steinberg Hill.

Her parents moved from Ranger to Odessa in 1937 with Gulf Oil Co. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1955 and graduated from Rutherford Business School in Midland. She went on to work for Continental Oil Co. until she married Jerry Tschau­ner on August 25, 1956. At which time she moved with Jerry to Lubbock, TX while he attended and graduated from Texas Tech. In Lubbock, Jerry and Joye had their first son Vance in 1958. Joye worked for Continental EMSCO in Lubbock until 1959. In 1960, Jerry and Joye were stationed in Regensburg Germany in the United States Army. Two of their boys, Rob and Scott were born while they lived in Germany. They returned to the states where Jerry began working for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in Palo Duro Canyon State Park in Canyon, TX. In 1965 the State moved the family to San Angelo, TX where they remained until Jerry began work at the Ector County Parks and Recreation Department back in Odessa, TX. Their fourth son (Chris) was born in 1969 in Odessa. After several years of raising her boys, Joye went to work for the Ector County Independent School District as a teacher's aid and the secretary to the Athletic Director for 25 years, retiring in 1999. She filled her spare time watching her kids and grand kids in their various sporting activities and traveling with Jerry to various vacation spots and exciting travel destinations.

Joye was a devoted wife, loving mother and a fun Mamaw. She never turned down an opportunity to take care of her grand kids. She was so proud of all her family.

Joye was also dedicated to working The West Texas Relays and was given the award of Honorary Referee at the 1999 West Texas Relays. She volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce on the Sports Committee and the PROS for several years. She was a
member of CrossRoads Fellowship Church and raised her family on strong Christian values.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jerry; four sons, Vance Tschauner and wife Johna of Parachute, CO, Rob Tschauner and wife Kathy of Corpus Christi, TX, Scott Tschauner and wife Debbie of Lubbock, TX, Chris Tschauner and wife Monica of Odessa, TX; nine grandchildren: Jerry Tschauner II and wife Kayli of Ft. Bragg, NC, Michael Tschauner and wife Ashley of Odessa, Caris Gill and husband Cody of Odessa, TX, Chad Tschauner at Texas A&M University, Kevin Tschau­ner at Texas State University, Daxton Tschauner of Lubbock, TX, Lindsey, Christian and Cade Tschau­ner of Odessa, TX; four great-grandchildren, Jace and Jaistyn Gill of Odessa, TX, Carissa and Merridith Tschauner of Ft. Bragg, NC; brothers, Wayne Hill and wife Sue of The Woodlands, TX, Bro Hill and wife Mary of Odessa, TX, Bill Hill and wife Mary Ann of Killeen, TX; one aunt, Frances Holcomb of Odessa, TX; sister-in-law, Sally Allen of Odessa, TX.

Preceded in death by her father, Wylie Willburn Hill; mother, Anne Mae Steinberg Hill; sister, Sandra Greener.

Visitation with family was held 5:30-7:30pm Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Sunset Funeral Home.

Services are scheduled at 12:30 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2011, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Griffin Jones officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to: Muscular Dystrophy Association, ALS Research Fund, 6560 Fannin Street, Suite 802, Houston, Texas 77030.
