Bertha Lee Stephens
of Miami died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at her home after an illness. She was 81.

Mrs. Stephens was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Frisco to Charlie Wesley and Clare May (Brady) Batey.

She lived in Miami for three years, moving from Central Valley, Calif. She was a member of Faith Pentecostal Church in Miami.

Survivors include her husband, Byrl Dean Stephens of Miami; two sons and their wives, Sheran and Nancy Stephens and Pastor Michael and Ruth Stephens, all of Miami; one daughter, Brenda Stephens of Miami; two brothers, Wesley Batey of Dos Palos, Calif., and Harold Batey of El Nido, Calif.; five sisters, Lilie Marshall, Mildred Gillian, Syble Darnell and Marie Von Allman, all of Dos Palos, and Gladys Zenger of Chowchilla, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Batey, and one sister, Ruby Perry.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Pentecostal Church, east of Miami. Pastor Michael Dean Stephens will officiate.

Burial will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens, east of Miami.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Stephens, Jon Stephens, Robert Stephens, Thomas Stephens, Jason Taylor and Philip Carr. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Taylor and Morgan Stephens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Faith Pentecostal Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.

Byrl Dean Stephens
of Miami, Okla. passed away Wednesday April 10, 2013 at his home. He was 87.

Mr. Stephens was born May 24, 1925 in Pocola, Okla., to Harvey Sherman and Bonnie Beulah (Elmore) Stephens.

He joined 5th Battalion/ 5th Amphibious/ Battery A 50 Caliber Marine Corp on Oct. 13, 1943. He was in Liberation of Leyte Island (First step in liberating Philippines) on Oct. 20, 1944. 44 days on transport from Hawaii to Philippines and on Dec. 12, 1944 secured Leyte Island and was brought back to Guam where they built a camp in the capital city of Guam. He returned home on Nov. 11, 1945 and was discharged on Feb. 5, 1946.

He came to Dos Palos, Calif. on Sept. 1, 1946 where he met and married Bertha Lee Batey on Dec. 14, 1946.

He worked for Fresno County, California Road Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator.

He had lived in Miami since March 2005 moving from Keyes, Calif. He was a member of Faith Pentecostal Church in Miami, and the American Legion and Marine Corps League.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bertha, two brothers, Carl and Norman and three sisters, Florence, Patricia and Claudette.

He is survived by two sons, Sherman Stephens and wife Nancy of Miami, Okla., Rev. Michael Stephens and wife Ruth of Miami, Okla., a daughter Brenda Stephens of Miami, Okla., two sisters Irene Sedowski and Betty Flagg of Redding, Calif., eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday April 15, 2013 at Faith Pentecostal Church in Miami, Okla. Rev. Shawn Stephens, Rev. Michael Stephens, Rev. Thomas Stephens, Rev. Morgan Stephens, Rev. Tim Hopkins, Rev. Jason Taylor and Rev. JD Beckett will officiate.

Interment will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami, Okla.

Pallbearers will be Robert Stephens, Jon Stephens, Tim Hopkins, Andrew Stephens, Nathan Taylor and Jared Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Thomas Stephens and Great Grandsons. American Legion Post no. 147 Funeral Detail will conduct Military Rites.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami, Okla.
