Francis Marion "Frank" Dobson, son of Rainer Bailey and Harriet Ann (Carlisle) Dobson, was born 25 Feb 1866 in Hanover, Coosa, Alabama. U.S. Federal Census indicate that he lived in Vincent, Coosa, Alabama in 1870, and in Hanover, Coosa, Alabama from 1880 to 1940. In the 1880 census his occupation was listed as "laborer".

On 24 Oct 1901, Francis married Effie Downey McNeil. They had issue: Archie J. Dobson (c.1903-?), Annie L. Dobson (c.1905-?), and Jennie C. Dobson (c.1914-?), all born in Alabama.

Francis died on 12 Feb 1952 in Coosa, Alabama and was laid to rest in Hanover Cemetery.
