Enlisted in Co. C, 12th Missouri Cavalry on 1 Nov 1863 at Maysville, MO.
Died of smallpox at the contagious disease hospital on Arsenal/Quarantine Island and was buried there. After a flood in 1876 washed away all headboards and means of identification, was one of 470 soldiers reinterred at Jefferson Barracks as an Unknown Soldier.
