Allen Tabor Bartlett was born in Maine,USA March 8, 1830 to Stephen Bartlett and Mehitable Stevens.
He is found in the 1850 US census living in a hotel in Lincoln, Penobscot, Maine. He is 21 and is a "saddler".
By the 1860 census he has migrated out to California and is working as a saddler in Emory, Stanislaus, California, the nearest Post Office is in La Grange and he is 29 years old. He marries young Elizabeth Jane James in November of that year. In the 1870 US census, Allen and Elizabeth are found living in Knights Ferry with their three sons, George,Charles and Frank.
They lose their son Charles, a baby daughter Helen in 1871 and another son, Alfred, in 1876.
By 1880, the family has moved to San Mateo where they were pioneers of that area, and are included in many San Mateo County History books.
According to the 1880 census, Allen and Elizabeth are living in San Mateo with four children. George, Edith, Willie and Albert. Albert passes away in 1887 at barely 2 years of age.
His wife, Elizabeth passes away in 1886.
His 1892 voter registration, he is living in Redwood City, San Mateo County, California.

Allen passes away in 1895 at the age of 64. He is buried at St. John's cemetery in the San Mateo Hills.
