Mae was born 16 June 1881 to Henry Harrison "Harry" Eccleston and his wife Lucy [Adams] Eccleston in Anaconda, Montana. They were a farming family.

Her first marriage was in 1907 to Roy J. Dann from Minnesota. On 06 December 1908 a son was born, Noel Joseph Dann in Nevada. In 1930, at 21, he is seen living with his mother and stepfather in Junction City, Lane, Oregon. Noel lived with his wife Elsie in Gates, Marion, Oregon where he died 14 April 2001. It is a small logging community on the Santiam River.

Mae was the second wife of William Carl Washburne. She died in her home at 1242 D Street, Springfield, Lane, Oregon. This was her home for the last seven years of her life. Her second husband having died fifteen years earlier in Junction City where they had lived together. William worked all his life in the bank his father had helped to found and he was the bank president at his death. The bank was the same one in Junction City that his father [Charles Wesley Washburne] had helped found for the benefit of the community. Charles was likely the wealthest and most influential citezen in the surrounding area at the time of his death.
