He was the son of Lottie and Lester Tackett and was born in Vian, OK on June 4, 1929. He was the second child of 9 brothers and sisters. His family moved to the Muskogee area in the late forties, and he met his future wife Etta Bernice Glenn and married her on March 2, 1946, they were married for 62 years. They had 1 daughter, who died as an infant in 1947. She was followed by 6 sons.
For most of his life he worked at Affiliated Foods, Inc. until he retired in 1991. He was also the Pastor of Guiding Light Tabernacle in Tulsa until he retired in 1995.
He was preceded in death by: his daughter, Dorothy Ann; his parents; and 1 sister, Lou Ella Hargis. He is survived by: his wife, Bernice of the home; his sons: Jerry Tackett and wife Kim of Tulsa, Harold Tackett and wife Anne of Broken Arrow, Richard Tackett, Jr. and wife Jeanne of Tulsa, Jim Tackett and wife JoAnn of Sperry, Steve Tackett and wife Angie of Skiatook and Chris Tackett and wife Sandy of Broken Arrow; 15 grand-children; and 14 great-grand- children; 7 brothers and sisters: James and wife Minnie, R.D. and wife June, Paul and wife Marilyn, Junior and wife Patsy, Donny and wife Cleta, Dolores and husband Frank Buttler, Dortha Tackett and husband Doake; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Service will be held 2 pm, Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Porter, OK. Under the direction of Moore's Memory Chapel, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Memory Chapel, 918-583-6148 Jewell Richard Tackett, Sr.
