HILTONS, Va. Nancy K. Carter, 87, went home to see Jesus for Christmas on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at her residence following a brief illness. She had spent most of her adult life in Hiltons. Nancy had retired from Burlington Industry in Bristol with over 40 years of service. She was a member of Barkers Chapel Evangelical Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was an accomplished seamstress and was a well known cook in this area. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Delaney Carter; father of her children, Joe D. Carter; parents, J.T. and Flora Keller; a sister, Georgia Keller; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, A.P. and Sara Carter. Nancy Carter is survived by her daughters, Connie Keller and husband, Rudy, Hiltons, Lisa Dickerson and husband, Skip, Kingsport, Tenn., Benita Jones and husband, Steve, Gate City, Va.; grandchildren, Trevor Keller and wife, Carrie, Regan Keller and wife, Stacy, Kelli Keller and fiance, Nathan, Matthew Dickerson and wife, Macayla, Casey Garrett and husband, Lance, Joshua Jones, Jacob Jones and fiance, Karla; great-grandchildren, Colin, Candi, Addison, Hailey, Ethan, and Elijah; sisters, Grace Smith, Mary Hartsock, Martha Stigall, and Carol Belcher; her brothers, Herbert Keller, Cornelius Keller, Phillip Keller, Joseph Keller, and Jerry Keller; along with several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home or friends may also call anytime at the residence. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Browder officiating. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Mount Vernon Church Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Vernon Church Cemetery Fund.
