Josephine A. Cox, 81,Kansas City,KS, died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at her home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, at the Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Av., Kansas City, KS where friends may call from 9-10:30 a.m. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial contributions to City Union Mission.
Josephine was born August 5, 1929, the daughter of Joseph and Zoah (McKeever) Sass in KCK, and was a lifetime area resident. She had been a bus driver for the K.C.K. Public Schools for 19 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Victory Hills Baptist Church and had been a volunteer at Providence Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Cox in 2003 and a sister Elizabeth Jane Miller. Josephine is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Marsha and Ray Chaffin, Sarah and Frank Forrest, a brother and his wife, John and Shirley Sass, all of KCK, a sister, Marguerite Watt, Huntington Beach, CA, seven grandchildren and their spouses, Kurt and Jackie Schutte, Colette and Matt Wedan, Kathleen Schutte, Darrell and Kristina Forrest, Jeanette and Chad Newbill, Laura and Paul Gregory, Heather Forrest, seven great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
