Jean S. Clare passed from this world Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, surrounded by her family and friends at Mary Washington Hospital. She lived life surrounded by family, friends and an abundance of loved ones who must now cope with this tremendous loss. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred Miller and William P. Dalton; a brother, Harold Nelson Dalton; and, most recently, her husband, Robert L. Clare III, who passed just a year before her. Jean is survived by two sisters, Rozella Seaman of King George County and Lois Ponder (and Charles) of Ladysmith; five children, Dale Sisson (and Myrtle), Dickie Sisson (and Denise), Bonnie Rollins (and Carl), Carol Porter (and Tony) and Pam Garcia (and Nicki); and a stepdaughter, Linda Clare (and Sue); all of King George County; 11 grandchildren, Dale Sisson Jr., Michael Sisson, Ashley Sisson, Amanda Sisson, Richard Sisson, Becky Skebo, C. W. Rollins, Candi Porter, Caryn Porter, Danielle Garcia and Nicholas Garcia; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom will cherish the memories that they shared with Jean. The memory of her humorous and loving nature will be sure to provide comfort for her loved ones during this difficult time. Jean lived a generous and kind life. She was a lifetime member of the Dahlgren Rescue Squad, and enjoyed regaling others with stories of times spent on the squad. She owned and operated Clare Ambulance Service, by which she provided care to her patients and to those who worked with her. She was a member of Round Hill Baptist Church, where she participated in the activities of the Young at Heart Sunday school class. She will surely be remembered for her beneficent personality, which was recognizable even to a stranger. She will be greatly missed, and will forever remain in our hearts. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Nash and Slaw Funeral Home in King George. A service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 23, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, King George. Interment will follow at Round Hill Baptist Church cemetery, King George.
