A celebration of her life service will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Elwood, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation. Burial will be in the Lost Nation Cemetery.
Hilda Helen Schneiter was born April 14, 1932, in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Mettler) Schneiter. She graduated from Monticello High School. She married Elmer Busch on November 18, 1955, in Monticello. He died on March 16, 2000. She was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in Lost Nation for many years. She had also worked for Energy & Collins in Anamosa, Iowa, for four years. She was a member of the Elwood United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Kids Club at the church, the Lions Club, Hospital Auxiliary, Booster Club in Monticello, Lost Nation Legion Auxiliary and the Food Pantry. She also helped put out the Lost Nation newspaper, "The Scoop." She loved to help others and enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her son, Darrell (Bonnie) Busch of Bettendorf; a sister, Margaret Schneiter, and a brother, John (Joan) Schneiter, both of Marion, Iowa; and nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
