Second son of Jesse and Evelina (Parks) Butler. Brother August "Perry" Butler. Served in the Army in WWII. His first marriage: 27Sep1929 to Bessie Williams gave him one son, Richard, and with his second marriage to Etta Belle Maxson he added: Roland Jr., Susie, Wilbert and Evelyn. HIs third marriage to Hazel Pulling gave him six more children: Kathryn, Roland P., Patricia, Eva, Nancy & David. Dad was a gentle man and a talented carpenter, but unknown "ghosts" caused a life of alcohol addiction which he was never able to defeat.
