At the age of 80, Arthur D. Talkington died suddenly Wednesday, July 3, 2002 while visiting in Kingston, N.Y. He was a resident of Fernandina Beach, FL at the time of his death.

A native of Muscatine, Iowa, he had lived in Nassau County, FL since 1988, when he relocated from Bedford, Maine. He was a college professor at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell until his retirement in May 1987. He received a bachelor of arts from the University of Chicago and his master's degree from the University of Missouri. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Fernandina Beach, FL.

Besides his parents Arthur L. And Ada Alderman Talkington, he was predeceased just this year by his wife Margaret R. Talkington.

Survivors include his two daughters, a sister, and three grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors were held in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard Funeral Home in Fernandina Beach. Interment was at Pine Hill Cemetery in Pine Hill, N.Y.
