MARGARET A. JOY "NANNY" 102, of Huntington, W.Va., was born February 26 1904, in Lebanon Junction, Ky., passed away following a brief illness, Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband Dewey E. Joy; her parents Everett and Blanche Johnson Chapman, two brothers, Ray Chapman (former Cleveland Indians baseball player), Roy Chapman and a special son-in-law, Ronald Shanklin. She is survived by two children and a special daughter-in-law, Jo Alva Shanklin of Huber Heights, Ohio and Robert and Kay Joy of Huntington, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Ron) Vance of Huntington, Eric (Bernory) Shanklin of Portland, Texas, Matthew (Tonya) Shanklin of Riverside, Ohio, R.J. (Tina) Shanklin of Huber Heights, Ohio, Naomia Shanklin of Fairborn, Ohio, Becky (Rick) Meade of Lavalette, W.Va., Richard Joy of Carolina Beach, N.C., Margaret Sue Ramsey of Ashland, Ky., and Rachel's former husband Jack W. Mease of Huntington; 11 great-grandchidren, Kelli Mease of Gaithersburg Md., Sarah Mease and Rob (Crystal) Bryant of Huntington, Katherine Bryant of Lavalette, W.Va., Patricia Shanklin and Melissa (Jared) Roberts of Crestview, Fla., Ronald and Timothy Shanklin of Portland, Texas, Curtis and Collin Shanklin of Huber Heights, Ohio and Diana Shanklin of Riverside, Ohio; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaley Jaden Duncan and CJ Roberts of Crestview, Fla. She became a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church November 13, 1966, where she was a member of the Dorcas/Truth Sunday School class, sang in the church choir, and was an active member of the Dynamic Adults seniors group. She was a long standing member of many Tri-State area bridge clubs until the age of 100. She enjoyed playing her baby grand piano. She was an avid sports fan especially when it came to the Duke "Blue Devils" basketball team as well as the sports of Marshall University "Thundering Herd". Margaret lived a long healthy and active life. We will miss her wonderful stories of the fond memories from her amazing life. She loved her family dearly and took much pleasure in them. We are all blessed to have had her in our lives. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place 2 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2006, in the chapel of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church by Dr. Allen Reasons and the Rev. Hubert Harvey. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Fifth Avenue Baptist Church or the charity of one's choice in her name.
