In 1859, Jonathan bought the lot across the street from his existing house on Elm St (now Sessions House Smith College) from Samuel Hopkins. In 1860 he had William Fenno Pratt design the house and build it. In 1866, he sold it for $13,000 to Orleana Boker, and he moved further up Elm Street.
