Brownlow "Brown" Martin Isaacs

Brownlow Martin Isaacs was known by his family, as just, "Brown" and his family were indeed, very proud of him.

He was born in Hughes, Avery Co., N.C. to Aaron Wesley Isaacs & Martha Alice Ashley Isaacs as the second to the oldest, of ten children born.

* My guess would be that Brownlow "Brown" Martin Isaacs would have received his name "Brownlow" as from being named after a friend of the family that resided in Hughes, N.C., Avery County, N.C. Marcus Brownlow "Brown" Hughes and his many family members resided and then died in the same area of Newland, or Hughes, N.C. The Hughes Family were well known in the area; they ran a store, named "Hughes General Merchandise". Also, I think they may have sold furniture in the store. One of the sons of "Brownlow" Hughes was Ronald Hughes; he was known to be a Undertaker for many of the deceased of the area of that time. (I can remember hearing my Grandfather speak of the Hughes Family quite often as when I was a child).

Siblings of "Brown" were Charlie McCoy "Coy", Cozy Jane, Anner, Sadie Alverta, Maude Mae, Bertie, Burnett, Earl, and Maggie Isaacs. Anner passed away at the age of 14. Maggie is presently the only one still living.

Brown married Myrtle G. Arnett Isaacs on March 5, 1927, in Carter County, Tenn.

They only had two children, Martha Ann Isaacs Brattstrom, b 1929, in Conn. & Richard Martin Isaacs, b 1944, in San Diego, Ca.

Brown served a total of 27 years, with the U S Navy. Around 1938, he moved his wife and young daughter from the East coast, to California where he was stationed in San Diego.

He retired as Chief Warrant Officer 1, from the U S Navy, in 1944. He was both a World War I and W W II veteran.
After military retirement, he worked as a supervisor, at Solar Aircraft, in San Diego, Ca. for 16 years, with fully retiring, in 1960.

"I can proudly say, I am a niece of Uncle Brown, as I do know how proud his family was of him."
